Wando-gun Accelerates Preparations to Promote Hometown Love Donation Program
Active Promotion of Ordinance Enactment and Publicity Activities Targeting County Residents and Diaspora
[Wando=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do, is accelerating preparations such as enacting ordinances and promoting the Hometown Love Donation System in advance to operate the system and raise donations, as the "Act on Hometown Love Donations" will be enforced from January 1 next year.
The Hometown Love Donation System allows donors to contribute to local governments, which then purchase return gifts for the donors, helping to generate income for farming and fishing households. Donors benefit from tax deductions and return gifts, creating a triple effect.
The county has established a plan for the smooth implementation of the Hometown Love Donation System, completed legislative notice for the ordinance enactment, and plans to promulgate the ordinance in early November.
Additionally, posters and banners are displayed throughout the towns and townships, leaflets are distributed, and active promotion of the Hometown Love Donation System is being conducted through SNS, the official website, and various events targeting residents and those who have moved away.
On the 5th, education on the Hometown Love Donation System was also conducted for all public officials.
The county plans to carry out focused promotional activities targeting hometown natives and gradually expand the discovery of high-quality return gifts and preferential benefits for donors.
A county official stated, "Hometown Love Donations will be used to support vulnerable groups and improve residents' welfare in areas such as culture and health, greatly contributing to regional development," and added, "We ask for the interest and participation of residents and those who have moved away."
Meanwhile, Hometown Love Donations can be made to metropolitan and basic local governments other than the donor's registered address. For example, if a resident's registered address is Wando, donations can be made to all local governments except Wando-gun and Jeollanam-do, and if one is not a Wando resident, donations can be made to Wando-gun. Corporations cannot make donations.
Donations can be made face-to-face by visiting designated financial institutions and filling out a deposit form, or by accessing the integrated information system being developed by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. Individuals can donate up to 5 million KRW annually, with full tax deductions up to 100,000 KRW and a 16.5% deduction on amounts exceeding 100,000 KRW. Donors can choose return gifts within 30% of the donation amount in the form of local specialties or Wando Love Gift Certificates.
