The meal delivery project for low-income homebound elderly delivers homemade side dishes to 78 households of elderly people who have difficulty moving and skip meals due to economic hardship or unavoidable reasons.
Every Monday, members of the Korean Red Cross Volunteer Society prepare ingredients early in the morning, cook, and package side dishes for a week's supply to deliver.
The meal delivery project for low-income homebound elderly is operated through volunteer work by members, supported by 8 million KRW in ingredient costs from the county.
Kim Daeyeon, Chairman of the Yeongyang-gun District Council of the Korean Red Cross Volunteer Society, said, “It is rewarding to think that the elderly will enjoy the food we prepare with care,” and added, “We will continue to actively participate in volunteer activities for neighbors in need.”
