People Power Party's All-Out Defense Against 'Yoon's Slang Scandal'... Demands for Protest Visits and Investigation Requests

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Geum Bo-ryeong] The People Power Party (PPP) on the 26th strongly criticized MBC, which first reported the 'vulgar language controversy' that arose during President Yoon Seok-yeol's overseas trip, and made every effort to defend the president.
Joo Ho-young, the floor leader of the PPP, attended an emergency committee meeting held at the National Assembly that morning and stated, "Accurate reporting based on facts is the foundation and ethics of journalism. However, MBC, which first framed the president's vulgar language in this trip's coverage, has been found to have not even confirmed the basic facts."
Joo added, "The controversial part was conveyed very inaccurately when heard without subtitle pre-information, so even experts could not confirm what was said, and there are claims that it was not what was reported. The presidential office requested all media outlets not to report until the exact wording was confirmed," he pointed out.
Joo also said, "Regarding MBC, we will take various measures that the party can take, including protest visits and demands for explanations. Although there were many achievements related to the president's overseas trip, it is regrettable that they were greatly damaged and overshadowed by MBC's report."
Emergency committee member Jeon Ju-hye also stated, "Yesterday, MBC's third union raised suspicions of collusion between the Democratic Party and MBC and called for the truth to be revealed. Before the MBC video of President Yoon's private conversation with his aides was even reported as news, Park Hong-geun, the floor leader of the Democratic Party, pointed out the related content first, which is very suspicious." She emphasized, "MBC's act of reporting very inaccurate content as definitive is an abandonment of its role as a public broadcaster, and appropriate responsibility should be held."
Emergency committee member Kim Haeng also said, "We do not know how Park Hong-geun, the floor leader, and Hyun Geun-taek, former spokesperson of the Democratic Party's election committee, obtained the content in advance. Looking at the timeline, it is clear to us that there was collusion between Park Hong-geun and a specific reporter, or that a specific reporter acted as a mole." He added, "If, as Park Hong-geun said, they saw it on social media (SNS), they must clearly disclose the evidence."
Kim Haeng continued, "MBC's digital headquarters created a devilish edited video that repeated the relevant audio three times at the end and even added a definitive subtitle saying 'United States.' We must also scrutinize the management's decision-making process that allowed this broadcast." He added, "There are reasonable suspicions of mole activity, mad cow disease-style agitation, and devilish editing. This is an issue that must be examined during the MBC audit and, at the same time, we believe it should be referred for investigation. We also think it is necessary to apply for a provisional injunction on the full original video."
Along with this, emergency committee member Kim Jong-hyuk said, "Is there a special connection between the Democratic Party and MBC? How did they know about what happened in New York before the embargo was lifted? The Democratic Party claims they saw it on SNS, but it is hard to believe that the main opposition party mentioned the head of state based on an unverified video."

The People Power Party also plans to make a protest visit to MBC. After the emergency committee meeting that day, when floor leader Joo Ho-young was asked by reporters about the 'MBC protest visit schedule,' he replied, "We are discussing it with the subcommittee of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee."
