Police Conduct Search and Seizure Related to Eunpyeong District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung Over Alleged Election Law Violations
Search and Seizure Conducted Again in June
[Asia Economy reporters Jang Sehee and Oh Gyumin] The Anti-Corruption and Public Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency conducted a two-day search and seizure operation on the 21st and 22nd in connection with allegations of election law violations by Kim Mikyung, the mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul.
Mayor Kim was previously accused of sending about 200 boxes of apples to district officials and local residents through her executive secretary ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday in January this year.
The recent search and seizure targeted individuals known to have paid for the apples. The investigation is reportedly focused on determining whether Mayor Kim was involved.
