NH Investment & Securities 100-Year Life Research Institute Publishes '2022 Middle Class Report'
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] NH Investment & Securities 100-Year Life Research Institute announced on the 22nd that it has published the "2022 Middle-Class Report," which includes perceptions of the middle class, middle-class household economy, middle-class retirement preparation, and middle-class asset management strategies.
The Middle-Class Report is a report published by NH Investment & Securities 100-Year Life Research Institute since 2015, focusing on analyzing the economic life and retirement preparation status of the middle class. The "2022 Middle-Class Report" conducted a survey of a total of 1,140 people including the middle class and presented asset management strategies for retirement preparation by age group.
In "Perceptions of the Middle-Class," it was found that 45.6% of South Korea's middle class perceive themselves as lower class. This section examined the gap between the actual image of the middle class and the ideal image that the middle class envisions.
In "Middle-Class Household Economy," it was observed that asset-management-oriented middle class has increased recently, especially among the younger generation due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the report explored what changes this has brought to household economies.
In "Middle-Class Retirement Preparation," 69.1% of the middle class responded that their life after retirement would be worse than now, indicating a lack of confidence in maintaining middle-class status, which was used to understand the current status of retirement preparation in the 100-year life era.
Finally, in "Middle-Class Asset Management Strategies," asset management strategies tailored to each individual's retirement plan were proposed by age group: the '543 Strategy' for those in their 20s and 30s, and the '234 Strategy' for those in their 40s and 50s.
