Hyundai Construction Donates Carbon Emission Credits to Support Youth Energy Education Programs
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it will hold the ‘H-Green Saving Donation Ceremony’ on the 22nd to improve energy efficiency through LED lighting replacement and renewable energy installation support at social welfare facilities.
Hyundai Construction has decided to donate a total of 250 million KRW to the Seoul Energy Welfare Fund for LED lighting replacement and solar power installation support at 10 social welfare institutions in Seoul. The ceremony will be attended by Kim Eui-seung, First Deputy Mayor of Seoul, Yoon Young-joon, CEO of Hyundai Construction Co., Ltd., and Kim Hyun-hoon, Chairman of the Seoul Social Welfare Council.
The Hyundai Construction H-Green Saving project is promoted as part of environmental protection and greenhouse gas reduction efforts to practice carbon neutrality. It supports institutions located in Seoul that meet the selection criteria, such as those without LED lighting installed, those capable of operating sufficient solar power facilities during daylight hours, and those agreeing to utilize greenhouse gas reduction amounts.
Meanwhile, the Seoul Energy Welfare Citizen Fund has raised a total of 11.2 billion KRW from 2015 to 2021 and has carried out various projects such as residential energy efficiency improvements, replacement of high-efficiency energy products, and support for cooling and heating supplies for about 360,000 energy-vulnerable households. The number of participating citizens and companies has increased annually, establishing it as a leading platform for energy welfare.
