Restaurant Receiving Baemin Management Consulting Sees Monthly Sales Increase of 183%
Woowa Brothers Value Management Report 'Baemin Story 2022' Published
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] The monthly sales of a restaurant that received management consulting from Baedal Minjok (Baemin) increased by 183%. The number of orders in the first half of the year from local specialty product companies listed on 'Jeonguk Byeolmi' increased eightfold in one year. A total of 1.2 billion KRW was provided as medical and living expenses to 161 riders who had accidents.
Woowa Brothers, the operator of Baemin, announced on the 21st that it published the value management report 'Baemin Story 2022' containing these details. According to the report, first, the competitiveness of local dining businesses has been greatly strengthened. Restaurants that participated in the 'Customized Diagnosis for Our Store' provided by Baemin with experts in Changwon, Gyeongnam, and Jeju are representative examples. In the case of a salmon specialty restaurant in Jeju, monthly sales increased by 183% after participating in the consulting. The meal kit development support provided in partnership with Busan City led to additional sales for restaurants. A restaurant in the Busan area saw sales increase by 166% compared to the same period last year after developing meal kit menus with expert consulting.
A total of 140,000 business owners participated in Baemin Academy. Since the first training in 2014, the number surpassed 100,000 in the first half of last year and increased by 40% in six months. The total number of training sessions provided so far also exceeded 1,500. In just last year alone, more than 500 online and non-face-to-face live training contents were provided, with about 94,000 participants.
Baemin has also steadily implemented support policies for riders. As of May, a total of 161 riders who suffered difficulties due to accidents during food delivery were provided with 1.2 billion KRW for living and medical expenses. The 'Woowa Rider Care Fund' used for support was established with personal funds from Kim Bong-jin, chairman of Woowa Brothers, and corporate funds. For rider safety, last year, Baemin expanded affiliated insurance companies, reducing hourly insurance premiums by about 10% and relaxing subscription conditions. In June, a daily 5-hour fixed-rate insurance, which is cheaper than hourly insurance, was also introduced.
The 'Baemin Vacation Lunchbox' campaign, which provides lunchboxes for children at risk of missing meals during school vacations, saw over 4,000 users participate in donations throughout 2021. With a total fundraising amount of about 260 million KRW donated by Baemin and customers together, a total of about 12,000 meals were delivered to children. Since the winter vacation of 2020 until now, the cumulative number of meals delivered through Baemin Vacation Lunchbox has reached about 43,000 meals.
