[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] A research group composed of former Vietnamese National Assembly members and central bank officials visited KakaoBank to observe the achievements and operational strategies of the internet-only bank.
KakaoBank announced on the 20th that a Vietnamese fintech research group of about 10 people, including Tran Van, former Vice Chairman of the Finance and Budget Committee of the Vietnamese National Assembly, visited KakaoBank's Yeouido office.
The Vietnamese fintech research group consisted of four former Vietnamese National Assembly members and central bank and related officials, and three executives and employees from the electronic wallet platform company MoMo.
KakaoBank presented its development strategy, business performance, and future vision over the five years since its launch. The Vietnamese fintech research group reportedly showed great interest not only in deposit and loan businesses but also in platform businesses.

A KakaoBank official explained, "In just over five years since its launch, KakaoBank has become the banking app with the most customers in Korea," adding, "With balanced banking services and platform capabilities, we will continue to grow sustainably through various strategies including overseas expansion."
