The forum was co-hosted by Kang Deuk-gu of the Democratic Party and Kim Byung-wook of the People Power Party, members of the National Assembly's Education Committee.
The presenters reached a consensus that lifelong education should be viewed not as a subordinate area of education but as vocational education spanning the entire life cycle.
Kim Je-seon, Director of the Gyeonggi-do Lifelong Education Promotion Institute, emphasized, "It is necessary to shift the perception from defining education outside of school as lifelong education to recognizing it as a part of education throughout the entire life cycle."
Kwon Jae-hyun, Head of University and School Lifelong Education at the National Institute for Lifelong Education, argued, "Reform of the education finance grant, which is socially controversial, and support for higher education and lifelong education are necessary."
Choi Don-min, Dean of the College of Future Life at Sangji University, suggested, "To stabilize the current LiFE project, it is necessary to strengthen policy coordination between the Ministry of Education and the Korea Council for University Education, change to a rolling admission system differentiated from the school-age system reflecting adult learners' demands, and expand the transfer admission period, thereby reforming the flexible university education system."
Choi Seong-bu, Director of Lifelong Vocational Education at the Ministry of Education, stated, "We are considering ways to establish the LiFE project as the center of lifelong vocational education and will strive to expand its achievements throughout universities beyond the current project team-centered approach."
