View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] Prime Minister Han Duck-soo on the 17th urged local governments and disaster response agencies to actively inform the public about safety guidelines in relation to Typhoon No. 14 'Nanmadol.'
At 7:30 p.m. that day, Prime Minister Han held a situation briefing on the response to Nanmadol at the Government Seoul Office and stated in his opening remarks, "During the recent heavy rain and typhoon, there were unfortunate casualties due to flooding in underground spaces such as semi-basements and underground parking lots," emphasizing this point.
Prime Minister Han said, "Firefighters, police, forestry, military, and local governments should thoroughly check their emergency preparedness to ensure there are no gaps in rescue and support," and stressed, "Institutions operating public facilities must also be fully prepared to prevent damage to essential infrastructure such as electricity and gas."
He further urged related ministries to "swiftly complete emergency restoration in the Yeongnam coastal areas such as Pohang and Gyeongju, which suffered significant damage from the previous typhoon."
Addressing the public, he requested, "Please pay close attention to weather information and strictly follow safety guidelines such as preemptive evacuation from dangerous areas."
