[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] Sampyo Industry announced on the 16th that the Seoul Eastern Branch of the Ministry of Employment and Labor conducted an on-site inspection of safety improvement activities at the Pungnap factory on the 15th.
The on-site inspection was attended by Lee Jong-gu, head of the Seoul Eastern Branch of the Ministry of Employment and Labor, along with staff members, and Sampyo Industry was represented by CEO Yoon In-gon and executives.
The main improvement measures included eliminating risk factors for the three major safety accidents (traffic accidents, falls, and entrapment), safety activities led by the production line, and strong leadership support activities.
To prevent traffic accidents within the factory, Sampyo Industry has focused on practical safety management by improving pedestrian pathways considering the optimal layout and newly installing vehicle exit area detection sensors. Additionally, since finger entrapment and fall accidents are the main types of accidents involving ready-mix concrete mixer truck drivers, safety devices were newly installed on all Sampyo Industry mixer trucks (956 vehicles) to eliminate accident risk factors.
Along with this, customized activities such as risk assessment, setting group safety rules, and performance measurement are being promoted through small unit teams composed of mixer truck owners, and rewards will be given to teams that achieve their goals.
CEO Yoon In-gon of Sampyo Industry stated, "We continuously inspect the workplace based on divisional leadership and an organization-led management system," adding, "We will conduct ongoing monitoring to ensure that a worker-centered safety culture is quickly established and actively reflect improvements."
