[Asia Economy (Pyeongtaek) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] A new container ship route connecting Pyeongtaek Port in Gyeonggi Province with Nagoya and Osaka in Japan will be established. This is significant as it is the first regular container ship route to Japan since the opening of Pyeongtaek Port.
The Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Port Authority announced on the 15th that a new route connecting Osaka and Nagoya in Japan to Pyeongtaek Port will be launched on the 17th. This new route will operate once a week, covering Pyeongtaek Port~Busan Port~Osaka Port~Nagoya Port~Busan Port~Pyeongtaek Port.
The company launching the new route is Panstar Line.com Co., Ltd., a company specializing in Japanese cargo transport and passenger services, based on the Dai Nippon International Ferry.
The terminal operator is PCTC (Pyeongtaek Container Terminal). Previously, Panstar Line.com departed from Osaka Port, Japan on the 14th and will arrive at Pyeongtaek Port on the 16th. This vessel will make its first departure to Japan on the 17th.
With this new route, the number of container ship routes at Pyeongtaek Port has increased to a total of 14.
A representative from Panstar Line.com stated, "The establishment of a direct route between Pyeongtaek and Japan will enhance convenience for shippers in the Gyeonggi region and greatly contribute to increased competitiveness by reducing transportation time and costs. We will actively strive to promote the early activation of the new route."
Nam Kyung-guk, Director of Pyeongtaek Port Authority (acting president), said, "Gyeonggi Province, Pyeongtaek City, and the Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Port Authority will actively promote the new route to exporters, importers, and forwarders to ensure the new container service stabilizes quickly and increases cargo volume. We plan to vigorously conduct port marketing to match cargo volume for the newly established Japan route, which has been opened after a long time." He added, "Furthermore, we will not spare continuous support for revitalizing Pyeongtaek Port, including cargo attraction incentives and logistics support for small and medium export companies."
