Kumho Construction Wins 220 Billion KRW Contract for 'Gumi Natural Gas Power Plant'
[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Tae-min] Kumho Construction announced on the 15th that it has won the contract for the 'Gumi Natural Gas Power Plant Construction Project' ordered by Korea Western Power.
The 'Gumi Natural Gas Power Plant Construction Project' is a project to replace Unit 1 of the Taean Coal-Fired Power Plant in Taean-gun, Chungnam, with a new natural gas power plant. Through this project, a 500MW-class natural gas power plant using liquefied natural gas (LNG) as fuel will be newly built.
In the future, the 'Gumi Natural Gas Power Plant' will be located in the Gumi High-Tech Valley National 5 Industrial Complex to align with the expansion of distributed power sources. Once completed, the Gumi Natural Gas Power Plant will enable stable power supply to nearby industrial complexes and various industrial facilities.
This project is a large-scale plant project worth a total of 224.5 billion KRW, and Kumho Construction will undertake the construction alone. Construction is scheduled to begin next month and be completed by December 2025.
Kumho Construction has been accumulating order backlogs by consecutively winning contracts in the plant sector since the second half of the year. Last month alone, it secured contracts for three natural gas supply facility installation projects, accumulating over 150 billion KRW in cumulative supply performance in the plant sector. With this 220 billion KRW-scale project, it has achieved over 370 billion KRW in orders in the plant sector in the second half of the year.
