The Geumsan Police Station in Chungnam announced on the 13th that they have booked and are investigating a man in his 70s, Mr. A, without detention on charges of violating the Animal Protection Act.
Mr. A is suspected of dragging his pet dog connected by a metal chain leash behind a four-wheeled motorcycle he was riding in Boksu-myeon, Geumsan-gun on the 21st of last month. As a result, Mr. A’s pet dog injured its paw and received treatment.
This fact became known after an animal protection YouTuber filmed the incident and uploaded the video on YouTube. During the police investigation, Mr. A reportedly stated, "I did it because I liked my pet dog and wanted to take it for a walk."
After the incident, Mr. A gave up ownership of a total of three dogs, including the injured pet dog and other dogs he was raising. The dogs were adopted into other homes through the animal protection YouTuber after receiving treatment.
