[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Gyumin] A man in his 40s suspected of killing an acquaintance over a debt dispute and disposing of the body has been arrested by the police. The police have applied for an arrest warrant, and the decision on detention is expected to be made today.
Seodaemun Police Station in Seoul announced on the 13th that they apprehended a man in his 40s, identified as Mr. A, on charges of murder and corpse disposal on the 11th.
Mr. A is accused of assaulting his acquaintance Mr. B with a blunt weapon on the 7th, killing him, and disposing of the body.
The next day at around 9 a.m., Mr. B’s family reported him missing to the police. During the missing person investigation, the police found signs of homicide and launched a full investigation. On the 9th at around 11:40 a.m., the police discovered Mr. B’s body in the Gyeongin Ara Waterway in Gochon-eup, Gimpo City, Gyeonggi Province.
Mr. A, who was on the run, was caught at around 2:30 a.m. on the 11th in Geoje City, Gyeongsangnam-do.
It is known that Mr. A committed the crime due to a debt issue with Mr. B.
