Yeo: "Yoon Must Escape Prosecutor-President Role... Even Saying 'President by Day, Prosecutor by Night'"
Jojung-sik "Yoon Government Neglects People's Livelihoods, Political Prosecution Acts Like Overlords... Must Escape 'Prosecutor-President'"
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] Cho Jung-sik, Secretary General of the Democratic Party of Korea, stated on the 12th, "(The people) have said that the Yoon Seok-yeol administration puts people’s livelihoods last and treats political prosecutors like their masters." Targeting President Yoon Seok-yeol, Cho said, "It is the way of the world that those who rise by the sword fall by the sword," adding, "How desperate must it be for people to say he is living a double life as 'president by day, prosecutor by night'?"
On the last day of the Chuseok holiday, Cho held a press conference at the National Assembly and said, "The public sentiment during Chuseok can be summed up in one word: anxiety." He added, "At the center of the public’s anxiety are the government and the president. The government only pretends to act, and the president is just distracted," emphasizing, "That is why the public keeps calling the president’s actions a 'livelihood show.' More frightening than an 'incompetent government' is a 'non-working government' that does nothing."
Cho stated, "The Yoon Seok-yeol administration deflects demands for government reform by blaming the previous administration or feigning ignorance, and personnel reform demands end with mere reshuffling," adding, "Meanwhile, they are applying all-out and blatant pressure for resignations against officials appointed during the Moon Jae-in administration."
He continued, "The prosecution, which has become the Yoon Seok-yeol faction, has recently conducted three raids on the Presidential Archives in just one month?an unprecedented act," criticizing, "Ultimately, they have carried out the first-ever and worst-ever indictment of an opposition party leader under the Public Official Election Act."
Park Beom-gye, chairman of the party’s 'Yoon Seok-yeol Administration Political Oppression Countermeasures Committee,' also claimed, "This is a one-sided targeted investigation against candidate Lee Jae-myung, who received many votes in the last presidential election and whose vote share was only 0.73% less than President Yoon’s," arguing, "This is not just oppression against Lee Jae-myung as party leader, but oppression against democracy and the rule of law."

Cho concluded, "The only solution for normalizing the National Assembly and restoring trust is for the president himself to change. President Yoon must break free from being the 'Prosecutor-President,'" urging, "The Yoon Seok-yeol administration must stop political oppression and promptly engage in bipartisan discussions on urgent livelihood issues to alleviate the public’s worries and anxieties."
