Gwangju Seo-gu, First Supplementary Budget of 793.8 Billion Won for the 8th Elected Term Formulated

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Yi-gang) has prepared the first supplementary budget for the 8th term of the elected government, totaling 793.8 billion KRW.

According to Seo-gu on the 6th, this supplementary budget focuses on supporting vulnerable groups in preparation for the resurgence of COVID-19, supporting small business owners to revive the stagnant local economy, and timely promotion of pledged projects following the launch of the 8th term of the elected government.

The main contents of the budget include an increase compared to the first supplementary budget: ▲7.2 billion KRW for temporary living support for low-income groups ▲4.1 billion KRW for COVID-19 living support expenses ▲2.1 billion KRW for emergency welfare support ▲400 million KRW for support for small enterprises and small business owners.

Additionally, project costs for ongoing issues were reflected, including ▲9.2 billion KRW for military noise damage compensation ▲1.1 billion KRW for the construction of the Budle Village Multipurpose Center in Yudeok-dong ▲2.3 billion KRW for the construction of the public complex office building in Nongsung 2-dong ▲2.7 billion KRW for the creation of a public parking lot in Geumho 2-dong.

In particular, the budget was allocated for resident-experienced services such as cleaning and other civil complaint tasks, improving civil complaint friendliness, and resident jury groups for pledge implementation evaluation, aiming to continuously resolve residents' inconveniences and actively involve residents in district administration to fulfill pledges.

This supplementary budget will be reviewed by the district council's standing committee and the special budget and settlement committee starting from the 13th, and will be approved and finalized at the plenary session on the 26th.

A Seo-gu official said, “Based on this supplementary budget, we will do our best to stabilize the lives of residents suffering from the ongoing COVID-19 and rising prices, and to restore the local economy, completing the 8th term district administration slogan ‘Together Seo-gu, Standing Tall Seo-gu.’”
