Somang-ui Jip, located in Hang-dong, Hanam-si, Gyeonggi Province, is a social welfare facility where severely disabled individuals without family support, aged between 3 and 50, live. Compared to other care facilities, it houses 21 severely disabled people who require a lot of assistance. On the other hand, there are only seven staff members, making operations challenging.
In this situation, Somang-ui Jip suffered major damage from the heavy rain that hit the central region last month, including flooding of the living building and the collapse of the storage warehouse for daily necessities. At that time, 18 people, including 13 who had difficulty moving and 5 facility staff, were trapped but were barely rescued. With Typhoon No. 11 ‘Hinnamnor’ making landfall, there were concerns about additional damage.
APR decided to support Somang-ui Jip immediately upon hearing this news. In connection with its recent achievement of a record high first-half performance of 174.3 billion KRW, the company prepared a donation of 17.43 million KRW. The Korean Red Cross plans to use the donation to supply necessary items depending on the recovery situation.
