Listening to the Opinions of Struggling Merchants, Active Communication with Citizens Visiting the Market Continues
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Jeong In-hwa, mayor of Gwangyang City, visited Jungma Permanent Market on the 2nd to meet with market officials and merchants to check sales and perceived inflation during the Chuseok holiday market season and to listen to various current conditions.
About 30 people, including chairpersons of partner companies of Gwangyang Steelworks, participated in this visit to the Jungma Market's livelihood site.
Mayor Jeong stated that by visiting the livelihood economy site, he listened to the difficulties faced by merchants and actively communicated with citizens shopping for the holiday, promising to actively reflect these in the city administration direction to revitalize traditional markets.
He added, "Feeling the bustle of Jungma Market makes me realize that the great national holiday, Chuseok, is approaching," and expressed hope that the 4th emergency disaster living expenses, despite the prolonged difficulties due to COVID-19, would have a rapid ripple effect in revitalizing the local economy.
Meanwhile, Mayor Jeong plans to visit Gwangyang Permanent Market on the 5th, and Gwangyang 5-day Market and Gwangyang Daily Market on the 6th, respectively, to share opinions with traditional market merchants about the local economic situation felt on site and ways to revitalize traditional markets.
