Yoon Declares Additional Disaster Areas Including Dongjak and Seocho Districts Affected by Heavy Rain (Update)
[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] On the 1st, President Yoon Seok-yeol additionally declared seven cities, counties, and districts as special disaster zones due to the heavy rain last month that caused large-scale damage. These areas include Dongjak-gu and Seocho-gu in Seoul, Yeoju-si, Uiwang-si, and Yongin-si in Gyeonggi Province, Hongcheon-gun in Gangwon Province, and Boryeong-si in Chungnam Province.
The Presidential Office added, "This additional declaration was made reflecting the recent damage survey results, in addition to the 10 areas initially declared on August 22."

In particular, President Yoon urged Minister of the Interior and Safety Lee Sang-min to ensure the swift and equitable distribution of disaster relief funds before the Chuseok holiday, not only for the areas declared as special disaster zones but also for all citizens affected by the recent heavy rain. Furthermore, he instructed the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters to closely monitor the movement of Typhoon No. 11 'Hinnamnor,' which is developing over the sea south of Okinawa, Japan, and to proactively prepare necessary measures regarding its impact on South Korea.
