The Tea 'Ganggyedaeum' Drunk by King Jangsu Wang Yeongjo... Served at Gyeongbokgung Palace for 2 Months
[Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] An event to taste royal court medicinal teas and traditional sweets will be held at Saengmulbang, a pavilion within the Sojubang area of Gyeongbokgung Palace. The Cultural Heritage Administration's Office of Royal Palaces and Tombs and the Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation announced that the event will take place from September 7 to October 20.
Visitors can experience tasting royal court medicinal teas and traditional sweets at Saenggwabang between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., the time when lunch was traditionally served at the royal court.
The menu is based on records such as the "Annals of the Joseon Dynasty" and "Donguibogam," and consists of six types of royal court traditional sweets from "Guseonwangdogo" and five types of royal court medicinal and fruit teas called "Ganggyedaum (薑桂茶飮)." "Ganggyedaum" is known as a tea that King Yeongjo, a longevity king of the Joseon Dynasty, drank for health management.

Reservations are available online through Interpark Ticket on a first-come, first-served basis for up to 30 people per session (maximum 2 tickets per person) until 5 p.m. the day before the experience. ▲ The first reservation period starts at 3 p.m. on September 1, ▲ and the second reservation period starts at 3 p.m. on September 15.
