Yoon: "Presidential Office Must Maintain Highest Level of Work Competence"
President Yoon: "We must become the most dedicated and competent group to properly serve the people"
First Presidential Office Personnel Committee since Yoon's inauguration
Possibility of a major reshuffle in the Presidential Office around the Chuseok holiday
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] President Yoon Seok-yeol emphasized on the 29th regarding the personnel reshuffle at the presidential office, "Because it is the most important institution, I believe that a dedicated attitude to the nation and the highest level of work competency must always be maintained."
On the morning of the same day, when a reporter asked him on his way to the Yongsan presidential office, "What is the significance and background of the personnel reshuffle at the presidential office?" President Yoon replied, "The presidential office must be the most dedicated and competent group to the people in order to properly serve them."
In the case of Secretary B under the Office of Civil Society Senior Secretary, he has been referred to the personnel committee meeting held that day to decide on disciplinary action. This is the first time the presidential office has convened a personnel committee since President Yoon took office.
Additionally, it has been reported that a secretary from the Office of Civil Society Senior Secretary, who was under inspection by the Office of Public Service Discipline Secretary due to inappropriate contact with external personnel and interference in personnel matters, recently expressed his intention to resign voluntarily.
The presidential office instructed all employees at the level of Senior Administrative Officer Grade 2 and below to write a work competency statement around the 100th day of President Yoon's inauguration.
It is also known that the work competency statement asked whether they met two major criteria: the spirit of public officials who sacrifice and serve for the people, and the capability to earn the trust of the people.
In the Office of Political Affairs Senior Secretary, last week, retirement was recommended to 3 out of 10 senior administrative officers and administrative officers.
This personnel reshuffle is not focused on a specific senior secretary’s office but targets the entire presidential office, so there is speculation that some of the approximately 40 secretary-level aides may be replaced before the Chuseok holiday.
