Gyeongbuk Province Holds Public Health Care Vision Proclamation Ceremony … Proclaiming ‘A Healthy Future Drawn Together, A Happy Gyeongbuk Achieved Together’
Launch of the 'Gonggong Boheun Uiryo Jiwondan' Pledges to Protect Residents' Health to the End
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwi-yeol] On the 29th, Gyeongbuk Province held a vision proclamation ceremony to commemorate the launch of the Gyeongbuk Public Health Medical Support Group at the Lahan Select Convention Hall in Gyeongju.
Attending the event were Governor Lee Cheol-woo, Gyeongju Mayor Joo Nak-young, Director Joo Young-soo of the National Medical Center, Director Lee Kyung-soo of the Gyeongbuk Public Health Medical Support Group, and heads of city and county responsible medical institutions.
They marked this year as the inaugural year for realizing "A Healthy Future Drawn Together, A Happy Gyeongbuk Achieved Together" and started the journey together.
This event was organized to concretize the vision for public health medical care in line with the launch of the Gyeongbuk Public Health Medical Support Group and the beginning of the 8th term of the elected government, aiming to leap forward into a new Gyeongbuk and express the determination to protect the health of the residents until the end.
Public health medical care refers to all activities that guarantee universal medical access to citizens regardless of region, class, or sector, and protect and promote health (source: 2nd Basic Plan for Public Health Medical Care Guidelines).
The event included viewing a video on Gyeongbuk Province's public health medical vision and promotion strategies, followed by the vision proclamation ceremony.
Additionally, there were keynote presentations on ▲“Operational Achievements and Strategies of the Public Health Medical Support Group” by Lim Joon, Director of the National Medical Center Headquarters, ▲“Collaborative Governance between Public and Private Sectors” by Lee Kyung-soo, Director of the Public Health Medical Support Group, and ▲“Citizen Participation Methods in Public Health Medical Care” by Kim Jong-yeon, Director of Daegu City Public Health Medical Support Group.
Under the theme “Expectations for Gyeongsangbuk-do Public Health Medical Care,” panelists participated in a discussion on future strategies for public health, building collaborative governance to strengthen Gyeongbuk’s health medical care, and related topics.
Since last year, Gyeongbuk Province has started by enacting an ordinance on public health medical care, and in April of this year, it established a Public Health Medical Committee composed of demanders, providers, and experts to deliberate important matters related to public health medical care and enhance residents’ awareness.
Gyeongbuk is divided into six central medical service areas, selecting responsible medical institutions centered on public hospitals to establish essential medical cooperation systems such as ▲linkage of discharged patients ▲support for transportation of severe emergency patients ▲infectious disease management.
Especially from the second half of this year, by officially launching the Public Health Medical Support Group as a specialized support organization to discover and implement public health medical policies, the foundation of public health medical care is being solidified.
So far, the Public Health Medical Support Group has been operating with a budget of 580 million KRW, with Director Lee Kyung-soo leading seven researchers.
Going forward, related issues such as the entrusted operation of local medical centers by Kyungpook National University and the mid-to-long-term attraction of branch hospitals of advanced general hospitals, which are being promoted to guarantee residents’ basic health rights and strengthen essential medical care, will be gradually pursued.
