KT Launches Card-Type Onnuri Gift Certificate Mobile App... Linked with 7 Major Card Companies
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Su-yeon] KT announced on the 28th that it will launch a mobile app service for card-type Onnuri Gift Certificates, which can be used by linking seven major card companies in Korea for the first time, on the 29th.
The card-type Onnuri Gift Certificate service allows customers to register their debit or credit cards in the 'Onnuri Gift Certificate' app and use the purchased gift certificates for card payments at Onnuri Gift Certificate affiliated stores. Onnuri Gift Certificates can be purchased by linking a personal account within the app.
The Onnuri Gift Certificate app will be released at noon on the 29th. BC-affiliated 11 card companies' cards can be registered and used from the opening day on the 29th, while cards from NongHyup, Hana, Hyundai, Samsung, Shinhan, and Kookmin will be available for app registration and use starting September 1st.
In June, the Small Enterprise and Market Service signed an operation contract for the card-type Onnuri Gift Certificate business with KT and has been continuously preparing to provide customized services to customers and affiliated stores.
This project aims to digitize Onnuri Gift Certificates, which were distributed in various forms such as paper and mobile, to activate consumption and promote legitimate transactions. As a result, the Small Enterprise and Market Service will be able to prevent illegal distribution of paper Onnuri Gift Certificates and reduce incidental costs required for issuance. Additionally, more systematic management of Onnuri Gift Certificate affiliated stores based on digital technology will become possible.
KT provides the card-type Onnuri Gift Certificate mobile app service based on its know-how in operating local currencies for various local governments. In particular, it focused on improving app stability and customer convenience by utilizing information and communication technologies (ICT) such as big data, blockchain, and public cloud.
Customers purchasing card-type Onnuri Gift Certificates this time will receive a 10% upfront discount on the gift certificate price and will also be able to receive cashback benefits in the future. Furthermore, KT and all card companies will conduct multiple launch commemorative promotions to activate the card-type Onnuri Gift Certificates.
BC Card, participating as a joint operation agency, will actively support the revitalization of traditional markets and local commercial districts by expanding card-type Onnuri Gift Certificate affiliated stores and promoting big data-based marketing support for affiliated stores together with the Small Enterprise and Market Service.
