Mayor Lee Jae-jun Visits the Bereavement Hall of the Three Women in Suwon to Pay Tribute
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] On the 25th, Lee Jae-jun, mayor of Suwon, visited the funeral hall set up for the 'Three Mothers in Gwonseon-gu' at Suwon Central Hospital to pay tribute to the three mothers who tragically passed away.
At 1:55 p.m. that day, Mayor Lee visited the funeral hall and participated for about 30 minutes in a memorial ceremony held by the Won-Buddhism Gyeongin District, comforting the spirits of the three mothers.
After paying his respects, Mayor Lee said, "The three mothers struggled to live in Suwon City and passed away, and I came with a heart full of regret for not being able to take care of them."
He added, "There are blind spots where welfare systems cannot reach," and promised, "Suwon City will overcome the limitations of welfare systems by establishing an 'Integrated Care System' centered on village communities."
Suwon City is supporting the 'public funeral' for the three mothers who were found dead on the 21st in a multi-family house in Gwonseon-gu.
The funeral hall was set up at Suwon Central Hospital on the 24th. After the funeral on the 26th, the cremation will take place at Suwon City Yeonhwajang, and the ashes will be enshrined in the columbarium within Yeonhwajang.
Last July, the city signed a 'Business Agreement for Public Funerals' with the Suwon Christian Association, Suwon Buddhist Association, Suwon Catholic Diocese, and Won-Buddhism Gyeongin District to support funerals for unclaimed deceased persons and those whose relatives refuse or avoid taking charge of the funeral.
If the deceased's religion is confirmed, the respective religion conducts the memorial service, and for those whose religion is unknown, the designated religion for each quarter holds the memorial service.
