The new factory will be built in Eumbong-myeon, Asan-si, Chungnam, with a total floor area of approximately 52,000㎡ (16,000 pyeong), and a total investment of 69.5 billion KRW (excluding land) will be made. It is scheduled to be completed by November next year. It plans to produce snacks worth up to 240 billion KRW annually, including main snack products such as Jolly Pong and Corn Chip.
Crown Confectionery held a groundbreaking ceremony for the new factory the day before and officially started construction. About 100 people attended the ceremony, including Yoon Young-dal, Chairman of Crown Haitai, Yoon Seok-bin, CEO of Crown Confectionery, and Park Kyung-gwi, Mayor of Asan.
This is the first time in 34 years that Crown is building a new snack factory. The new eco-friendly snack factory will be constructed by applying the latest technology to the production facilities of the existing Asan factory, which has been operating in Baebang-eup, Asan-si since 1988. Solar power generation facilities and high-efficiency transformers will be installed to significantly improve energy efficiency, and low-NOx eco-friendly boilers will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by up to half. In addition, the latest filtering facilities will be applied to perfectly separate pollutants in advance, allowing only safe wastewater to be discharged.
With the factory size more than doubling, the introduction of new production lines will also be possible. By applying a vertical production line process, Crown Confectionery expects to greatly enhance production competitiveness by improving product safety and efficiency. Along with the production factory, a logistics base more than twice the current size will be installed and utilized as a nationwide snack logistics hub. Logistics efficiency and competitiveness will also be strengthened through logistics automation systems using robots.
