[Seoul District News] Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, Visits Sangam-dong and Mapo-dong on the 24th to Inspect Road Deterioration and Seek Improvement Measures
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, has officially launched the operation of the ‘On-site Mayor’s Office,’ which addresses residents’ pressing concerns and directly listens to their difficulties.
The Mapo District ‘On-site Mayor’s Office’ is a project where the mayor rides a dedicated bus to visit local livelihood sites, listen to residents’ voices, and seek solutions. It was first launched in July.
On August 24, the mayor visited Sangam-dong (World Cup Buk-ro 47-gil) and Mapo-dong (Mapo-daero 4-gil) in sequence, personally inspecting the deteriorated condition of roads that residents complained about and exploring improvement measures. (Photo)
Meeting with residents of the area, Mayor Park Gang-su promised, “Since parts of the road are damaged and pose a risk of accidents during passage, we will promptly repair them so that residents can travel with peace of mind.”
He also instructed the officials present on-site to establish thorough management and supervision, as well as institutional safeguards, to prevent frequent defects occurring in cause-burdened construction projects.
Following this, he visited the donation facility site within Mapo-ro 6 District to directly assess the facility’s status and listen to opinions on future utilization plans.
Mayor Park said he understands there have been various opinions about the facility and added, “We will fully reflect residents’ intentions and promptly decide on a suitable use that can achieve both resident convenience and regional development.”
The Mapo District ‘On-site Mayor’s Office’ holds ‘Communication Day’ on the second Wednesday and ‘Empathy Day’ on the fourth Wednesday of every month, using the mayor’s bus to visit key points in each neighborhood to listen to civil complaints.
Issues that can be resolved immediately are answered on-site to the complainants, while those requiring review are examined by the relevant departments and responded to under the name of the Mapo District Mayor. Additionally, the mayor visits welfare, culture, tourism, construction sites, and vulnerable facilities within the district to observe the sites and directly identify residents’ needs.
