Gyeonggi Office of Education Develops 'AI Ethics' Materials for Ethics Education
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education has developed AI ethics education materials titled 'Learning AI Ethics through AI Principles.'
This material was developed to expand students' awareness of artificial intelligence and to teach the proper use of AI. Twenty-two elementary and secondary school teachers in the province participated in the research and development.
The materials include 60 lesson plans for elementary and secondary education and expert articles. Based on the AI ethics guidelines announced by the Ministry of Science and ICT, the materials are designed to help students understand AI principles and learn proper AI usage through experiential and practical activities.
The main contents of the materials are ▲ Establishing AI ethical principles ▲ Preventing AI misuse ▲ Solving social problems with AI ▲ AI bias ▲ AI as a coexisting problem solver ▲ Ethics for AI developers and adopters.
The educational materials were produced in e-book format and are available to anyone on the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education website.
Kim In-jong, the Education Information Officer at the Gyeonggi Office of Education, said, "AI ethics education is an essential literacy education required in the digital age," adding, "We hope that the Gyeonggi-type AI ethics education materials, created with the participation of local teachers, will help enhance students' digital citizenship education capabilities."

Currently, there are 193 AI leading schools in the province: 103 elementary schools, 47 middle schools, and 43 high schools. There are 8 AI convergence education specialized high schools.
