This wild garlic seeding is part of a forest ecosystem improvement project aimed at preventing the gradual reduction of the natural habitat of wild garlic, a representative forest product of Ulleungdo, and preventing fall accidents that occur annually by purchasing wild garlic seeds from farmers and sowing them in the natural habitat.
Since 2018, Ulleung-gun has purchased about 1,000 kg of seeds annually and manually sown them in the forest, but starting last year, to significantly expand the seeding quantity and area, the project was carried out with the cooperation of "The Sky," a tourism helicopter operator.
The advantage of aerial seeding is that it allows large-scale distribution over rugged terrain through flight and also solves the problem of securing seeding manpower.
