Ulsan City Launches Investigation into Unpaid Wages Ahead of Chuseok... On-site Visits and Supervision, Strict Measures for Violations
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Ulsan City is launching an investigation into unpaid wages ahead of the Chuseok holiday.
The city announced that from the 18th to September 6th, it will inspect the wage payment status at public construction sites to ensure that on-site workers do not suffer economic difficulties due to unpaid wages.
The investigation targets ongoing projects, including 41 construction projects worth 13.1 billion KRW and 37 service projects worth 23.5 billion KRW, totaling 78 sites with 36.6 billion KRW.
The investigation will cover matters such as unpaid wage reports received by each department, fulfillment of employer responsibilities, and direct payments made to subcontractors and workers. Supervisory officials will visit sites in person and conduct interviews to carry out the investigation.
Ulsan City plans to designate companies with unpaid wages as underperforming firms, post their names on the Ulsan City website, and take strong measures such as restricting their eligibility to participate in bids in accordance with relevant laws.
