Jeongeup Pears Exported to Indonesia for the First Time... 288 Tons Scheduled for Sale This Year
[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeonbuk’s ‘Jeongeup Bae’ has embarked on its first export route to Indonesia, following Vietnam and Taiwan.
The Jeongeup Agricultural Products Distribution Center announced on the 12th that it held a loading ceremony for the export of ‘Jeongeup Bae’ to Indonesia.
The loading ceremony was held with the attendance of Mayor Lee Hak-su, Lee Dae-geon, head of the Horticultural Agricultural Cooperative, and farmers participating in the pear cooperative.
The city set an export target of 288 tons for this year, and the pears exported this time amounted to about 16 tons, valued at 48 million KRW.
This export expansion is expected not only to increase exports but also to secure stable sales channels and income for pear-producing farmers.
Until now, pear exports have been conducted mainly to Vietnam and Taiwan, and this is the first export of pears to Indonesia.
Due to difficulties in overseas promotion caused by COVID-19, marketing was conducted through a local export corporation.
As a result, expanding the sales channel to Indonesia is expected to invigorate the export of fresh agricultural products from Jeongeup.
Going forward, Jeongeup Bae is expected to continue its export path through strict selection and a differentiation strategy based on the indication of Jeongeup Bae’s origin.
On the 17th, exports to Hong Kong and on the 19th to Vietnam are planned to capture the tastes of local consumers.
Mayor Lee Hak-su said, “It is time for both exporters and farmers to unite their efforts to continuously expand agricultural product exports and increase farmers’ income. Jeongeup Bae has made efforts in thorough quality control such as joint selection and shipment by cooperative members, and we will spare no interest and support to ensure steady export expansion in the future.”
