[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] As the time spent at home has increased due to COVID-19, demand for 'hotel-style' furniture and interior design for resting spaces at home is rising. This is because the desire to showcase personal taste and the wish to live comfortably like in a hotel coincide, making it popular even in the wedding furniture market.
Beds have already become predominantly hotel-style. Hotel-style beds are characterized by enhanced aesthetics in headboard design or being made as an integrated unit with nightstands to improve convenience such as phone charging and storage. Simmons sparked the hotel-style bed trend. It is analyzed that there is ongoing demand to experience the comfort of Simmons beds, enjoyed in domestic luxury hotels, in newlywed bedrooms as well.
Simmons is solidifying its position as the 'synonym for luxury hotel beds.' In fact, Simmons holds a 90% market share of beds in domestic 5- and 6-star luxury hotels. Simmons' top-tier line, 'Beautyrest Black,' continues to sell about 200 units monthly this year, following last year. The entry model of Beautyrest Black, 'Lauren,' is priced around 19 million KRW for a king size, while the top model, 'Kelly,' is priced around 35 million KRW.
Ace Bed's premium mattress sales accounted for 50% of bed purchases among subscribers to the customized service 'Ace Wedding Members' for engaged couples in the first half of this year. The trend of preferring larger beds, known as 'Geogeok Isun,' continued, with king-size beds making up 65% of total purchases. Engaged couples most frequently chose the art wall concept bed 'Luce-Ⅲ.' It features indirect lighting on the headboard, creating a soft ambiance at night and a modern hotel room-like atmosphere during the day.
Hanssem's 'Euro 503 Art Wall' bed is popular among younger generations who want to decorate their homes like hotels or cafes. It has a luxurious wall panel attached behind the bed like an art wall, allowing for hotel-style bedroom decoration using mood lighting. The 'Euro 405 Brie Recliner Sofa,' named after the soft texture of Brie cheese, uses Italian Pellim Milano leather to maximize seating comfort. It is designed to create a comfortable, hotel-like living room atmosphere.
Hyundai Livart is gaining popularity with its 'Aesthetic' series. The Aesthetic series features an art wall design on one bedroom wall, enabling hotel-style interior decoration without additional construction. The 'Tembaboard,' made by processing medium-density fiberboard (MDF) into semi-circular or right-angled shapes and joining them, is applied as a point on the bed headboard to transform plain walls into art walls. Additionally, curved panels are added to the wall connected to the headboard, allowing the wall to be decorated as if interior construction had been done.

The nightstand enhances practicality by combining lighting, concept, and drawers, enabling glamorous styling similar to hotel beds.
