View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Su-yeon] SK Telecom announced on the 11th that it held a seminar with the Korea Transport Institute to collaborate on urban air mobility (UAM) based on artificial intelligence (AI) and big data.
The seminar, held on the morning of the same day at the Korea Transport Institute in Sejong City, was attended by key executives including SKT CEO Yoo Young-sang, Korea Transport Institute President Oh Jae-hak, and T map Mobility CEO Lee Jong-ho.
SKT and the Korea Transport Institute have been conducting joint research for UAM commercialization since holding a cooperation seminar led by representatives from both sides earlier this year to lead the UAM industry.
Additionally, through activities as part of the 'K-UAM Dream Team Consortium' (SKT Consortium), they have continued collaboration, including signing a memorandum of understanding to launch tourism and public service routes by 2025.
The SKT Consortium is strengthening business capabilities in flight systems and flight support information, which are expected to be core areas of the UAM ecosystem, and is striving to achieve global-level capabilities in the US, Europe, and other regions through close cooperation with global partners.
SKT and the Korea Transport Institute plan to lay the foundation for commercialization through specialized research on data integrity and analysis technology, as social interest in UAM grows and the business environment rapidly changes.
