View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Su-yeon] KT announced that it has completed verification tests of the 'Smart Call Group Auto-Switching Service' for the integrated railway wireless network (LTE-R) to establish a safe railway control system over two days, from the 10th to the 11th, on the national railway Jungang Line (Cheongnyangni Station to Andong Station section) and Gangneung Line (Cheongnyangni Station to Gangneung Station section).
KT conducted this verification test together with the Korea National Railway and Korea Railroad Corporation, aiming to verify the MCPTT (Mission Critical Push To Talk) call group auto-switching function that utilizes the location information of moving trains.
KT's 'Smart Railway Radio Auto-Switching Service' can automatically switch call groups into main channels (transmit/receive) and sub-channels (receive) by using location information according to train movement. In particular, at major stations where multiple lines overlap, controllers can communicate individually with the train drivers entering the station via radio, enabling improved efficiency in station control.
Going forward, KT plans to pilot the 'Smart Railway Radio Auto-Switching Service' on trains currently operating on the Jungang Line and Gangneung Line and expand its application to 13 other LTE-R projects that KT is building.
