Over 50 Missing After Migrant Boat Sinks in Greece
[Asia Economy Reporter Bu Aeri] Approximately 50 people went missing after a migrant boat sank in Greek waters.
According to the Greek Coast Guard, a migrant boat was reported to be in distress in the Aegean Sea near Karpathos Island, Greece, on the 10th (local time), AFP reported.
According to statements from 29 rescued individuals, there were 80 people on board the boat, and about 50 are reported missing.
Greece, which serves as the southeastern border of the European Union (EU), is a country where many migrants from the Middle East and Africa enter en route to Europe. Many die after being stranded while heading to Greece from neighboring Turkey (Turkiye) using old rubber boats.
The sunken boat is also known to have departed from Turkiye.

Greek authorities have deployed air force helicopters, naval vessels, and patrol boats to the accident site to conduct search and rescue operations.
