On the 10th, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office dismissed the application for an arrest warrant against lawyer Jang. A prosecution official stated, "The application was dismissed due to the need for supplementary investigation."
The day before, the Anti-Corruption and Public Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency arrested lawyer Jang and applied for an arrest warrant on charges of false statement under the Public Official Election Act.
The police said regarding the reapplication for the arrest warrant, "There are no plans (to reapply) at this time."
Lawyer Jang claimed that after meeting with Park Cheol-min, a violent gang member who was detained in October last year, he had secured a photo of a stack of money that was delivered to Lee Jae-myung, then mayor of Seongnam, in 2015. However, it was revealed that the photo was of a stack of money Park boasted about to those around him, saying he earned it while running a rental car business in 2018. The Democratic Party of Korea filed a complaint with the prosecution against Park and lawyer Jang for violating the Public Official Election Act and other charges.
