Changwon Fire Headquarters Takes Initiative to Prevent Fires in Buildings Housing Hospitals and Clinics
Special Fire Inspections Conducted at 43 Buildings in Changwon City
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Song Jong-gu] The Changwon Fire Department in Gyeongnam is implementing fire safety measures for buildings housing hospitals and clinics to prevent large-scale fires and casualties.
On the 5th, a tragic accident occurred in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province, where a building fire resulted in 5 deaths and 42 injuries on the 4th-floor clinic.
In response, the Changwon Fire Department will conduct intensive inspections of 43 buildings housing hospitals and clinics within mixed-use buildings by the end of September.
This special investigation will check the maintenance status of evacuation and fire prevention facilities, inspect for any blocking or closure of fire-fighting equipment, and verify the preparation of fire safety plans and evacuation plans.
Particularly, buildings undergoing construction or demolition due to store openings or closures within mixed-use buildings, and buildings without sprinkler systems, will be the focus of the inspections.
Kim Yong-jin, head of the Changwon Fire Department, stated, “Prevention is the most important way to reduce casualties and property damage from large fires,” adding, “We will do our best to protect the safety of Changwon citizens through thorough safety inspections.”
