T'way Air, 'New GDS Implementation'... "Expanding Global Sales Channels"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] T'way Air announced on the 10th that it has signed contracts with global GDS (Global Distribution System) companies to expand its sales channels and enhance its competitiveness in the global market.
T'way Air signed contracts with two global GDS companies, Travelport and Sabre, and introduced their services last month with the aim of increasing its global market share through long-haul expansion following the introduction of large aircraft and attracting inbound demand, as well as expanding its airline ticket sales channels.
GDS is a system that provides airline ticket reservation and issuance services, mainly used by travel agencies worldwide. Until now, T'way Air has sold tickets through Amadeus, one of the world's top three global GDS companies. This year, it has sequentially introduced the other two companies, Travelport, the parent company of Galileo, and Sabre, to expand its sales network.
With the expansion of GDS services available globally, including Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Mongolia, Hong Kong, and Australia, travel agencies in each country can now easily search and issue T'way Air tickets in real time, and T'way Air expects to increase its global market share.
In particular, after introducing three large A330-300 aircraft in the first half of this year and preparing to launch long-haul routes, T'way Air has established a foothold for overseas market entry such as Australia and Europe through the expansion of sales channels via this GDS build-out. The new global GDS infrastructure is also significant in that it lays the sales foundation to attract inbound demand from overseas.
