View original image[Asia Economy Sejong=Reporter Son Seon-hee] Amid the continuous damage caused by heavy rain in the central region, the Rural Development Administration announced on the 9th that it held an emergency inspection meeting with heads of central and local rural development institutions to assess and respond to damage in the agricultural sector.
According to the Rural Development Administration, the emergency inspection meeting, chaired by Cho Jae-ho, Administrator of the Rural Development Administration, was attended both online and offline by heads of research institutes under the Rural Development Administration as well as directors of provincial agricultural technology centers nationwide to share regional damage status and action plans.
Administrator Cho stated, "As heavy rain is expected to continue in the central region for the time being, prepare crop-specific response measures for areas at risk of damage," and added, "Especially, to prevent secondary damage at farming sites affected by flooding, please promptly provide on-site technical support."
He continued, "With heatwave warnings issued mainly in the southern region, strengthen guidance and institutional responses to prevent damage to crops and livestock caused by high temperatures and to protect farmers from heat-related illnesses."
