[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeo Jong-gu] Yeongcheon City, Gyeongbuk achieved a high collection rate of 94% targeting high-value taxpayers who paid more than 3 million won.
On the 5th, the city collected 9.713 billion won out of the 10.683 billion won assessed for the July 2022 regular property tax, achieving a collection rate of 91%.
To increase the high collection rate, tax officials in the eup, myeon, and dong districts handled payments between 1 million and 3 million won, while taxpayers paying over 3 million won were directly managed by the city hall. They conducted focused promotions such as confirming whether tax bills were delivered, sending payment guidance via text and phone calls, and personally delivering returned tax bills by visiting the registered addresses.
Additionally, a night call center was operated extending consultation hours from 6 PM to 8 PM on weekdays to address blind spots in civil complaints.
Property taxes over 3 million won accounted for 441 cases and 4.608 billion won, representing 43% of the total assessed amount. Through the dedicated property tax high-value taxpayer center’s focused encouragement, 409 cases amounting to 4.354 billion won were collected, achieving a high collection rate of 93% by case and 94% by amount.
