‘2022 Gyeongnam Taekwondo Hanmadang Competition’ to be Held in Hamyang, Gyeongnam
June 6-7 Poomsae Competition and June 8 Sparring Competition Highlighted as Taekwondo Training Camp Venue
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] A Taekwondo festival event where about 1,000 Taekwondo practitioners from the Gyeongnam region gather in one place will be held in Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam, the mecca of Taekwondo.
According to Hamyang-gun, the "2022 Gyeongnam Taekwondo Festival" hosted by the Gyeongnam Taekwondo Association and Hamyang-gun Sports Council and organized by the Hamyang-gun Taekwondo Association will be held for three days from the 6th to the 8th at the Goun Gymnasium in Hamyang-gun.
About 1,300 people, including 800 athletes and 500 coaches, executives, and related personnel from the Gyeongnam region, are expected to attend this event, where intense competitions in Poomsae and sparring will take place.
The Poomsae competition, held from the 6th to the 7th, and the sparring competition on the 8th will be conducted according to the rules of the Korea Taekwondo Association using KP&P hogu or Daedo electronic hogu (headgear) and a match operation program. Individual and pair matches will be conducted in a tournament format, and team matches will be conducted in a cutoff format.
County Governor Jin Byeong-young said, "While competition is important, please prioritize safety and conduct the event in compliance with government COVID-19 quarantine management guidelines to ensure a safe event." He added, "I hope visitors fully enjoy various foods and entertainment during their stay in our county and create beautiful summer memories."
The opening ceremony is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. on the 6th, and prize draws will also be held.
