Jung In-hwa, Mayor of Gwangyang, Embarks on On-site Communication Efforts
Ordering 'Administrative Practice Trusted through Listening and Communication' While Inspecting Major Ongoing Project Sites
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Jeong In-hwa, mayor of Gwangyang City, Jeonnam, held the first "On-site Communication Day" of the 8th local government on the 2nd, visiting major project sites and officially starting on-site communication efforts to foster public consensus on city administration.
The on-site communication was arranged to inspect the progress of projects closely related to residents' lives in the region and to discuss anticipated issues and countermeasures.
The main inspection targets were ▲ Gwangyang Steelworks Donghoan site ▲ Jinsang Cheongam disaster-risk area maintenance project ▲ Okgok Singeum flood damage living zone maintenance project ▲ Yonggang-ri and Deokrye-ri urban planning road construction ▲ Baegunje Theme Park project site, among others.
First, Mayor Jeong visited the Gwangyang Steelworks Donghoan site to receive a report on the site status and check utilization plans. Then, he visited the disaster-risk area maintenance project sites in Jinsang-myeon and Okgok-myeon to listen to issues and residents' suggestions.
Mayor Jeong emphasized, "We must establish permanent damage prevention measures so that nearby residents can feel safe from disasters," and added, "I hope that in carrying out the projects, residents' opinions will be fully heard and reflected to strengthen communication administration for residents' safety."
Next, at the planned urban planning road construction sites in Yonggang-ri and Deokrye-ri, Gwangyang-eup, he received reports on project plans and toured the Baegunje Theme Park project site in Bonggang-myeon to check progress and discuss solutions to problems with officials.
At the site, Mayor Jeong urged everyone to do their best in project implementation so that the living environment improvements meet citizens' expectations and the spaces become easily accessible to all citizens in daily life.
Concluding the on-site communication, Jeong In-hwa, mayor of Gwangyang City, said, "To practice administration trusted by citizens, it is important to balance principles and flexibility," and added, "With the belief that 'the problem is on-site, and the solution is also on-site,' we will continue to strengthen on-site communication and establish proper standards."
Meanwhile, the city plans to further accelerate city administration efforts to enhance citizen satisfaction by visiting various livelihood sites through the monthly operation of "On-site Communication Day."
