Seogwipo Coast Guard Quickly Rescues Drowning Person Found During Patrol
[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] Seogwipo Maritime Police Station (Chief Kim Jin-young) announced that on the morning of the 1st, while patrolling within Seongsanpo Port, Seongsan-eup, Seogwipo City, they discovered a drowning person who had fallen into the sea and promptly rescued him.
At around 4:25 a.m. that day, while patrolling on land within Seongsanpo Port, the Seogwipo Maritime Police received a report from the mother of the drowning person stating that her son seemed to have gone toward the pier but was not visible.
The Seongsan Police Substation patrol team immediately searched the surrounding area and found the drowning person, Mr. A (male, in his 30s), drifting in the sea within Seongsan Port. Two police officers jumped in and rescued Mr. A directly.
At the time of rescue, Mr. A showed no abnormal health conditions and was handed over to his guardian.
Sergeant Kang Kyung-woon of Seongsan Police Substation, who rescued the drowning person, said, “We are always fully prepared to rescue citizens anytime and anywhere,” and added, “We will continue to do our best for prompt rescue in the future.”
