Gwangju City "Enjoy Safe Water Play in Summer"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Gwangju Metropolitan City Health and Environment Research Institute announced on the 1st that water quality tests must be conducted to verify compliance with water quality standards for water play-type water landscape facilities that cool down the summer heat.
Water play-type water landscape facilities are artificial installations such as fountains, ponds, waterfalls, and streams that artificially store and circulate tap water, groundwater, etc., and are open to the public for physical contact.
Operators of water play facilities must conduct water quality tests at least once every 15 days during the operation period, starting from the commencement date of operation. The water quality test items include pH, turbidity, Escherichia coli, and free residual chlorine (when chlorine disinfection is used).
If water quality standards are exceeded, the facility must immediately cease operation and, after completing measures such as disinfection or water replacement, reopen only after passing a retest of the water quality.
