The Democratic Party's Political Retaliation Investigation Countermeasures Committee held a meeting at the National Assembly on the 1st and made this statement. Woo Sang-ho, the Democratic Party's Emergency Response Committee Chair, said, "I believe that the Yoon Seok-yeol administration adopted the major policy direction of seizing power institutions and conducting politically motivated investigations early in its term," adding, "If this intent is not stopped, the Democratic Party warns that it will begin taking concrete actions."
Assemblyman Kim Young-bae criticized Choi Jae-hae, the Chair of the Board of Audit and Inspection, who described the institution as "an agency supporting the president's state affairs management," saying, "The Board of Audit and Inspection has abandoned its constitutionally and legally guaranteed independence and has taken on the role of a reckless executioner from the Joseon Dynasty," and added, "According to Article 2 of the Board of Audit and Inspection Act, it is guaranteed independence and, under Article 97 of the Constitution, it is an agency that audits the entire administration. However, under the Yoon administration, it has degenerated into a mere political prosecutor's lackey." He further stated, "The People Power Party immediately initiates targeted audits once coordinates are set," and "The Democratic Party will hold the Board of Audit and Inspection politically responsible for becoming the Yoon administration's action squad and will take extraordinary measures for the irrational Board."
Following this, Assemblyman Kim Eui-gyeom referred to investigations of the previous administration by the current government, stating, "If you want to investigate the Moon Jae-in administration, start by investigating Prime Minister Han Duck-soo," and urged, "Search the Prime Minister's Office first."
Additionally, Assemblyman Kim Hoe-jae criticized the establishment of the Police Bureau, saying, "The police are never a tool of power," and demanded, "Immediately stop attempts to seize control of the police."
