The Seoul Bangbae Police Station announced on the 1st that they discovered a red smoke grenade in a residential area in Seocho-gu and handed it over to the Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal team.
The police responded to a security guard's report of "an explosive device found in a flower bed" around 3 p.m. on the 21st of last month and discovered the smoke grenade.
At the time of discovery, the object was a closed dark gray metal cylinder, and a police officer who was a former Marine identified it as a smoke grenade.
After a joint request from the police, the military authorities confirmed that the cylinder contained a red smoke grenade, and around 5 p.m., the military recovered the unexploded smoke grenade, concluding the situation without any human or material damage.
