Public Recruitment of 15 Members for the 1st Senior-Friendly City Monitoring Team Until the 16th
[Suncheon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu) announced on the 1st that it will publicly recruit 15 first-term members of the monitoring team according to the WHO Age-friendly City certification until the 16th.
As of June, the number of elderly people aged 65 and over in Suncheon City is 46,967, accounting for 16.8% of the population, on the verge of entering a super-aged society.
Accordingly, the city is recruiting a monitoring team to prepare for the super-aged society, improve unreasonable aspects of the city, and provide opinions on promoting an age-friendly city.
The recruitment target is Suncheon citizens aged 17 or older who are interested in creating an age-friendly city and are active on SNS platforms such as Facebook and Naver Band.
To apply, applicants must fill out the ‘Age-friendly City Monitoring Team Application Form’ and submit it either by visiting the Senior Welfare Division in person or via email.
The monitoring team, which is an unpaid honorary position, will be active for one year from September to August of the following year, and members will be dismissed if they cause any controversy such as damage to reputation.
Suncheon, which received WHO Age-friendly City certification in June, pursues the vision of ‘A 100-year life, a smart ecological city Suncheon where old age is happy and comfortable,’ aiming to be a diverse, pleasant, and safe ecological city by implementing 49 tasks across 8 areas over three years.
Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu of Suncheon said, “Just receiving the Age-friendly City certification from the World Health Organization (WHO) is enough to take pride in,” and added, “We hope that citizens who are interested in making the city better for the elderly will apply and participate actively.”
