Professor Hwang Intae of Chung-Ang University Appointed as Samjeong KPMG Professor
[Asia Economy Reporter Ji Yeon-jin] Samjong KPMG announced on the 1st that it selected Professor In-Tae Hwang of Chung-Ang University, Associate Professor Kwang-Hwa Jung of Kangwon National University, Assistant Professor Mi-Ok Jo of Myongji University, and Assistant Professor Won-Seok Ha of Chung-Ang University as scholars who have contributed to the development of accounting and corporate governance research.
Professor In-Tae Hwang of the Department of Business Administration at Chung-Ang University was appointed as a ‘Distinguished Professor,’ an honor awarded by Samjong KPMG to professors with outstanding accounting research and high academic expertise. Since 1995, Professor Hwang has served as a professor at Chung-Ang University’s Department of Business Administration and has been recognized for significantly contributing to the advancement of accounting theory, institutional improvements, and practical problem-solving through over 70 research papers and 13 books. He has served as a member of the Accounting System Deliberation Committee and as a professional deliberation member at the Financial Supervisory Service, and was the 34th president of the Korean Accounting Association.
Associate Professor Kwang-Hwa Jung of the Department of Business Administration and Accounting at Kangwon National University was selected as an ‘ACI Professor (Audit Committee Institute Professor)’ in recognition of research achievements related to improving corporate governance and strengthening the role of audit committees. Professor Jung currently serves as the chair of a subcommittee of the Korean Accounting Association, a member of the Management Evaluation Committee at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and a member of the Internal Accounting Control System Operating Committee at the Korea Listed Companies Association.
Assistant Professors Mi-Ok Jo of the Department of Business Administration at Myongji University and Won-Seok Ha of the Department of Business Administration at Chung-Ang University were appointed as ‘Scholarship Professors,’ awarded to emerging scholars who have published excellent papers related to accounting. Professor Jo, who joined Myongji University in March, was recognized for her dissertation titled ‘A Study on Resource Coordination,’ which is an outstanding empirical paper on human resource coordination by decision-makers in corporations and accounting firms. Additionally, Professor Ha was recognized for his research achievements by receiving the Best Paper Award at the Taiwan Accounting Association and Asia Accounting Association in 2018, as well as the Best Paper Award at the 2021 Korean Academic Society of Business Administration Convergence Conference.
