POSCO Evergreen Mural Talent Volunteer Group Presents Trick Art Floor Painting
Creating a Refreshing Plaza Atmosphere with the Theme "Emergency of a Whale Fallen into a Pond"
Providing Unique Fun and Memories through Three-Dimensional and Realistic Trick Art
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks Evergreen Mural Talent Volunteer Group (Leader Lee Kang-bok) completed a floor mural on the 29th at the entrance plaza of the Jung-dong Youth Culture Center in Gwangyang City, providing enjoyable sights for local residents.
The Evergreen Mural Talent Volunteer Group, founded in 2019, is composed of 28 employees from Gwangyang Steelworks, 18 employees from POSCO Group affiliate SNNC, and 5 Gwangyang citizens. This volunteer group actively carries out diverse mural volunteer work throughout Gwangyang City, including sister villages and social welfare facilities.
Responding to the Youth Culture Center’s request to create content for local youth in the newly established plaza in front of the center, the volunteer group began creating the floor mural on May 23, and it is scheduled to be completed with the final coating work on July 29.
The floor mural gifted by the Evergreen Mural Talent Volunteer Group was created under the theme “The Whale’s Flight after Falling into the Pond,” giving local residents a cool feeling during the hot summer.
In particular, by incorporating the optical illusion effect through trick art* into the floor mural, it is expected to provide children using the culture center with a unique fun experience and memories.
Lee Kang-bok, leader of the POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks Evergreen Mural Talent Volunteer Group, said, “The floor mural required many variables such as weather and time, so I feel even more attached to it,” adding, “Thinking about the children who will be happy to see the artwork already fills me with pride.”
A local resident who was admiring the floor mural said, “It’s amazing that the previously plain plaza now has pictures using trick art,” and expressed gratitude, saying, “Thank you to the POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks Evergreen Mural Talent Volunteer Group for providing enjoyable sights.”
Meanwhile, since 2014, Gwangyang Steelworks has been operating 43 talent volunteer groups where employees donate their skills and talents to places in need. These groups actively practice the corporate citizenship management philosophy by engaging in various fields such as ▲education ▲living environment support ▲environmental improvement ▲cultural content provision.
