10 Consecutive Wins to 2 Losses, The Emperor's Return... 15th Owners Cup Grand Prix, 'Raondeopaiter' Reclaims 1st Place
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The ‘Emperor’ of racehorses gave up his throne twice but has reclaimed his position.
On the 24th, the winner of the 15th Owners’ Cup (GIII 1600m, 3 years old and above, total prize money 450 million KRW) held at Busan-Gyeongnam Horse Racing Park was ‘Raon the Fighter.’ The race record was 1 minute 36.9 seconds.
Raon the Fighter had been on a 10-win streak since debut but ended the streak by finishing second in the Busan Ilbo Cup in April. In the next race, the Seoul Horse Owners Association President’s Cup, he again finished second by a nose, disappointing fans.
The two defeats ended there, and in this Owners’ Cup, Raon the Fighter reclaimed first place.
On that day, a total of 12 horses participated, including 5 from Seoul and 7 from Bukyeong. With many strong contenders entering, attention was focused on Raon the Fighter’s performance.
Although the undefeated record of 10 races was broken, his innate ability is outstanding and there is trust in his past performance. Unlike before when jockey Lee Hyuk rode him, this time jockey Moon Se-young was aboard.
Right after the start from gate number 2, Raon the Fighter dashed forward like an arrow, distancing himself from other horses early in the race and taking the lead. He was followed by Heat Yegam and King of Glory.
Raon the Fighter smoothly maintained a lead of one length as he entered the final stretch. Heartbeat tried to catch up with a last spurt, but Raon the Fighter, without showing any sign of fatigue, increased his pace and comfortably won by four lengths. (A length is measured from the horse’s nose to the end of its rump.)
It was a wire-to-wire victory, never giving up first place from start to finish.
Following him, Heartbeat, who persistently chased Raon the Fighter, and King of the Match, who seized an opportunity from mid-pack and surged forward, finished tied for second place.
With this commanding victory, Raon the Fighter has proven himself as the undisputed strongest, and the horse racing community is keenly watching whether he will continue his winning streak.
